How to pack art for moving
Whether you are getting ready to relocate to a new city or a new street, moving can be a difficult process. Safely transferring picture frames, and the photos within, doesn’t have to be a challenge. The key is to minimize movement within packing boxes and make sure there is plenty of padding to avoid scratching and breaking. There are two methods to help your art arrive safely.
Method 1: Wrap each frame in newspaper, and tape a layer of cardboard on top. Lay the frame flat into a box and pack empty space well. There should be 2″ of space around all edges of the frame to avoid the frame hitting a corner and breaking when moving the box around.
Method 2: Wrap each frame in bubble wrap and tape down edges. You can also reuse shipping evelopes lined with bubble wrap as a protective cover for picture frames. If needed cut into triangles to slip over the corners of the frame. Pack additional bubble wrap around the wrapped frames.
And don’t forget to clearly label each picture frame box as fragile!
