Cider with mulling spices

Christmas mulled apple cider with cinnamon, anise and rosemary. Traditional hot drink or beverage, festive Xmas or New Year winter cocktail

Mulling Muffins

1 egg
¼ cup vegetable oil
½ cup brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla2 Tbsp Aspen Mulling Spices
1 cup applesauce

Mix well, then add:
1 ½ cup Flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 cup rolled oats

Bake at 350 degrees for 9-10 minutes: Check and bake longer if necessary

 

Oat-mull Cookies

1 1 /4 cup butter
1 tsp vanilla
¾ cup brown sugar
1 egg
½ cup Aspen Mulling Spices

Mix well then add:
1 ½ cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
Mix well then add
3 cups rolled oats
1 cup raisins
1 cup walnuts (optional)

Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Makes 4 ½ dozen

 

Pumpkin Bread

1 cup oil
3 cups sugar
3 eggs
1 can pumpkin
½ tsp baking powder
2 ½ tbsp Aspen Mulling Spices
½ tsp baking soda
2 cups white flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup pecans (optional)

Cream sugar and oil. Add eggs and pumpkin. Sift all dry ingredients and stir into pumpkin mix. Add vanilla and pecans (if using). Pour into three small loaf pans (greased and floured). Bake for 1 hour and 20 minutes at 350 degrees.

 

Russian Tea

5 quarts of prepared tea (regular or herbal)
Juice of 6 oranges
Juice of 6 lemons
1 carton Aspen Mulling spices
Heat tea, orange juice and lemon juice just until hot-do not boil.  Remove from heat. Stir in Aspen Mulling Spices.  Serve hot.

 

Spiced Fruit

Place drained contents of a 1 lb 14 oz can of peach halves, apricot halves, pear halves, or pineapple chunks in a 1 quart jar. Heat 1 cup honey, ½ cup vinegar, ½ cup Aspen Mulling Spices to boiling. Pour over fruit; cool.  Cover and refrigerate at least 8 hours.

 

Su’s Gingersnaps

Preheat oven to 325 degrees

Cream together:
¾ cup butter
1 cup Aspen Mulling Spices
1 cup sugar

Stir in:
2 well beaten eggs
½ cup molasses
2 tsp apple cider vinegar
Sift and add:
3 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ tsp baking soda
3 tsp ginger

Mix ingredients until blended. Form dough into ¾ inch balls. Bake on a greased cookie sheet for about 12 minutes.  As the ball melts down during baking, the cookie develops the characteristic crinkled surface.

 

Colorado Sangria

In a pitcher with ice, combine one bottle of sparkling white wine, ¼ cup brandy, ¼ cup cran-apple juice, and 4 tablespoons of Cinnamon Orange Blend. Garnish with mint leaves and orange slices.

 

Pancakes a la Aspen

Sift together:
¾ cup flour
½ tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
Add to the following mixture:
2 beaten eggs
2/3 cup milk
½ tsp vanilla
2 tbsp Aspen Original Spice Blend

Fold in 4-6 apples, peeled and thinly sliced. Pour batter in ¼ cup batches onto a buttered pan. Flip when bubbles appear on the surface. Serve with butter and syrup, applesauce, or jam.

It’s time to make “Aspendoodles”

This is an easy recipe from Aspen Mulling Spices 

Aspendoodles

1 cup butter, softened

1 1/2 cups sugar

2 eggs

2 3/4 cups flour

2 tsp. cream of tartar

1 tsp. baking soda

1/2 tsp. salt

1/4 cup Cinnamon Orange or Caramel Apple Spice Blend

Cream butter and sugar together until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time and mix well. Sift together flour, cream of tartar, soda, and salt. Stir dry ingredients into butter mixture until dough is formed. Roll dough into balls the size of walnuts and roll in the Aspen Spice Blend to coat.  Place one inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes at 400F .

Preheat grill for medium heat. Combine 1/2 cup water and 1/4 cup lemon juice in a large bowl. Add 2 apples, cut in 1/4 inch slices.

In a small bowl, combine 2 Tbsp brown sugar with 1 tsp Aspen Cider Spices  of any flavor. Place apples on grill rack and allow to cook for 6-8 minutes on each side, turning once.  Place apples on a plate and sprinkle with sugar mixture.
