Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

We’ve had quite a year here at the Frame Depot. It started with our owner, Claudine breaking her leg skiing in January.  After that the first three or so months were a blur as we dealt with having one less person as a framer. This summer brought us one of our busiest ever which was exciting. Fall came with a new look for our building outside and a lot more framing and we ended with another wonderful Christmas season.  We are so blessed to have such great customers and we enjoy meeting new ones every day. We have framed some unique items this year; the bark from a tree, a height chart on drywall, and numerous rugs come to mind. We even had the pleasure of cheering on Jan as she competed in a National Framing Competition in January at the West Coast Art and Frame Show.

So Cheers to 2017, we hope 2018 brings you lots of love, fun and prosperity.

Recently, Jan had a customer who had a piece of bark from a tree they had on their property and wanted preserved. They had carved names in it years ago and discovered that it had fallen over so they carefully removed the section with the names and brought it to us. That’s when Jan did her magic.

She started by carving a piece of foam to be the support behind it.

Then she covered the foam in fabric

Next she attached the bark to the foam and the bark to the backing

wood in deep frame

We used a 9″ deep barnwood frame to hold it.

It turned out beautifully, and we helped a family save a special memory.

Gallery moments

Gallery moments

Gallery moments are those moments that happen in your daily life, so you whip out your phone to take a photo and then later you keep going back to that photo. Don’t keep those moments in your phone! Get them on your wall. It’s easy, just bring us your phone and let us show you the possibilities of printing your photos on metal or acrylic. It’s a clean, crisp modern look that will add a special touch to your walls. We can frame them, or leave them unframed, the choice is up to you. These take a week to print and deliver and we can even ship them to you, or someone you are giving a gift to at no additional charge.

Our building was in need of a paint job and we think the final product is even better than expected.  Thanks to the guys at Integrity Painting our mural now stands out, even more than it did before.

Spring cleaning

Spring cleaning

It’s that time of year again, time to clean out the drawers, closets and garage.  As you purge and sort and discover all the items you thought were lost forever make sure you pull out the real treasurers and do something with them. Mom would love some of frandma’s jewelry framed for a Mother’s Day gift.  How about framing some fishing flies for dad from his tackle box he used as a kid? Honor Grandpa and his service to our country by framing and hanging his medals in a memory box. The possibilities are endless, so what unique items did you find spring cleaning this year?

Jan’s memorable moment

Building Dreams by Jan Falter

The last few months we have been asking for people to vote for Jan. Now we can finally show you her piece! She was one of six semi-finalists in Tru-Vue’s Memorable Moments contest. The piece was then in the top three so it was on display at the West Coast Art and Frame show in January. In the end she did not win, but we are all very proud of her amazing efforts.

Her memorable moment is a Habitat For Humanity family finally getting the key to their very own home. We have been involved with Habitat for Humanity of Mesa County for a few years and have witnessed this amazing moment more than once so it was only fitting when the contest asked for something that was community related this was her choice. The piece is now hanging in our business for you to admire. It is quite complicated when looked at up close. The siding was created by embossing matboard with our computerized mat cutter and then cutting out the pieces. The roof is created with three different sizes of Larson Juhl moulding. Like we said, you have to see it in person to appreciate all the details.

Congratulations Jan! We’re very proud of you!
